The Huntington Avenue Branch was considered the central unit of the Boston YMCA; some of its activities and programs were citywide, while some were branch-specific.  Materials that particularly related to the Huntington Avenue Branch are organized in this series, while those that were citywide can be found in Series V. This series documents the camps associated with the Boston YMCA and includes correspondence, scrapbooks, committee reports, forms, travel logs, brochures and pamphlets, prospectuses, legal documents, registration books, and publications. Of all the camps represented in this series, only Pleasant Valley Camp (Boxes 9, 23, Folders 141, 324) originally admitted girls. Sandy Island Men's Camp, the first Boston YMCA camp, was formerly Camp Buena Vista (Boxes 10-11, Folders 147-153; 23, Folders 326-327; 37, Folders 395-396; and FF5/D1, Folder 391). Additional information about camping activities can be found in SERIES II. BRANCHES - Huntington Avenue: Boys' Division (Boxes 5-6, 23, Folders 75-80, 321) and  SERIES V. SUBJECT FILES - Departments: Youth Division (Box 14, Folder 215).  The collection also contains photographs of the activities of the camps; they can be found in Box 9, Folders 136-139 and in SERIES VI. VISUAL MATERIALS - Camps (Photograph Boxes 2-4).
