| Scope and Content Abstract: | The collection includes 19 issues of CPB's newsletter, La Alternativa, dating from the first issue in June 1984 to October 1999. The collection is an incomplete set, with seventeen of the issues from 1984-1987. The newsletters focus on issues facing the Puerto Rican and Latin American community in Boston, including bilingual education, union/labor issues, housing, racism, police brutality, violence against women, civil rights and violence in South America. Most issues include photographs, poetry, calendars of upcoming events, artwork and obituaries. |
