Electronic Documents

Internet use:

Members of the public may use federal Internet resources at any of the public access workstations in the Library Reference area. The U.S. Federal Government Information page provides a starting point for research and includes links to GPO Access and the FDLP Electronic Collection.

Assistive technology for computer use is available to disabled users. Please check our list of services For Users with Disabilities.

Compact discs:

It is appreciated if potential CD users can provide advance notice of their visit to the University Libraries so we can ensure that they will be available. Due to our present workstation configurations and the disparity in technical specifications and access software of federal CD’s, it is not possible for us to provide on-demand access to all CD titles. When we are unable to provide appropriate technical support for a federal compact disc, arrangements may be made for you to borrow the disc.

General policies:

The University Libraries do not use filtering software to restrict access to any Internet sites.

Users are asked to supply 3 ½ floppy diskettes or USB "flash drive" storage devices if they wish to download publications from federal web sites. See Copies and Printing for more information.

The NU Libraries computer hardware meets the minimum technical requirements established by the Government Printing Office.

Public access to federal government publications in all formats is guaranteed by Title 44, Section 1911 of the United States Code.
