Logging in From Off-Campus

  • Access to our licensed article, reference and ejournal databases is available to certain NU affiliates, depending on the database, for educational use only. A login is required if you are off-campus.
  • Access to our catalog, NuCat, does not require a login to search. Just connect to http://nucat.lib.neu.edu. You will need to log in, however, to check your record, renew, save searches, or create alerts using myNuCat.

Current NU faculty, staff and students (including Distance Ed Students)

To use licensed research services for articles and more, you will need:

  1. A myneu username and password
  2. A web browser and internet connection.
View a sample login screen.

NU alumni

Consult a list of article and document databases available to alumni. Registered NU alumni are eligible for off-campus access to these databases by contractual agreement or license.

You will need:
  1. An Alumni Association or Husky Card, which you must bring to the Snell, Law, or AAI Library to register for library services.
  2. A web browser and internet connection

AOL users

If you are using AOL, the built-in web browser may cause a conflict with our proxy server preventing you from logging in. Take the following steps:
  1. Download and install Netscape Navigator version 6.2 or higher.
  2. Connect to AOL
  3. Minimize your AOL browser
  4. Open your new Netscape browser, go to http://www.lib.neu.edu, and select "Online Research" to choose the database you want to use.
Alternatively, you may install Netscape from a CD-ROM available from Library Systems (contact info at the bottom of this page).

Common error messages

"Unable to identify you through your campus identification"

There may be a problem with your myNEU account or you typed your password incorrectly.

"Unable to identify you through your library identification"

If you are faculty emeritus, NU alum, reciprocal or special borrower, and have not borrowed books from the library before or recently got a new Husky/library card, your barcode may not be registered in our system. You may come to the Snell or Law Library in person to register your barcode.
