Borrowing and Scheduling

Current NU faculty/staff/students may:

  • view/listen to materials on-site
  • borrow most non-reserve items

Restricted use reserve

Some items, usually feature films and language teaching materials, appear in our catalog (NuCat) with a "Restricted use reserve" location. These titles are available for in-library use only by current NU students; faculty may take these materials out of the library for classroom showings.

Scheduling Materials in Advance

Faculty may walk in during open hours to pick up materials for classroom use. However, we recommend scheduling of media materials at least 24 hours in advance to ensure they are available when you need them.

Visitors from outside NU

Members of BLC libraries may use and borrow non-reserve, non-restricted media materials on-site with a valid BLC card. Please call in advance to check availability and make arrangements for your visit. Some media materials circulate on interlibrary loan.

The Libraries provide an off-air recording service for taping of television broadcasts for later classroom use.
